Commute and flights
If this is you

Airplane rumble drops by about 30dB.

SoundGuys measured about 30dB of low-frequency cut, the kind of noise an airplane engine makes. Downtown, traffic was barely noticeable.

“Our testing shows that the ANC reduces low-frequency noise, such as the rumble of an airplane engine, by about 30dB.”

ANC on lasts under six hours.

SoundGuys got 5 hours 42 minutes with ANC on. A long-haul or a full workday-plus-commute needs the case. Five minutes in the case is rated for about four more hours.

“In our battery testing, the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro lasted 5 hours and 42 minutes with ANC enabled.”

Gym and rain
If this is you

Sweat and rain are in spec.

SoundGuys rates them IPX5. They say you can wear them in the rain or at the gym without worry. That is the buds, not the case.

“With IPX5 water resistance, you can wear them out in the rain or at the gym without worry.”

The case lid is a fingerprint magnet.

The reflective cover shows every touch. Fine in a gym bag. Less fine if you keep taking it out to look at the screen.

“The charging case has a reflective cover that is an absolute fingerprint magnet.”

Checking the case
If this is you

You can read the battery without opening the lid.

SoundGuys used the front touch bar with the lid closed. On the blue and black cases, the display shows through. Quick battery check is the useful bit.

“You can interact with the touch bar on the front of the case without having to open the case, which I found useful for quickly checking the battery level of the earbuds.”

Most of the case tricks are slower than the app.

SoundGuys: pulling the case out and fidgeting takes about as long as opening the app. Daily ANC toggles are faster on the buds.

“While the case is certainly unique and interesting, it doesn’t have a ton of practical utility. Taking the charging case out of my pocket and fidgeting with the controls on it takes about the same amount of time as pulling out my phone and opening the Soundcore app.”

What that adds up to

  • Commute: about 30dB off airplane rumble. ANC on lasted 5h 42m.
  • Gym: IPX5 for rain and sweat. The case is a fingerprint magnet.
  • Pocket: the case screen shows battery. Most toggles are faster in the app.
